REVIEWS

What advice would you give to someone considering to take this course?

Anonymous: I felt that the course information was generally very easy to understand, with the harder topics being periodic table (need to memorise) and solid state chemistry (need for visualisation). Compared to the Sem 1 2112 exams I have on hand, Prof Vinh’s exams seem to be more focused on fine and essential details rather than broad concepts. As such, I would recommend one to really understand and read through his lecture notes, and not to dismiss parts of his recorded lectures. Overall, the course is one of the more manageable level 2 courses, since Prof Vinh’s pace is incredibly chill. Doing notes consistently would be good to help one be sufficiently prepared for the 2 CAs, and eventually the finals.

What did you enjoy or find most useful from this course?

Anonymous: The most useful concept is probably Acid and Bases since it can be used to explain almost all reactions.

What aspects of the course did you find most challenging, and why?

Anonymous: The main challenging part would probably be studying for the chapter on Periodic Table, due to the large amount of information on each Group which needed to be remembered.

What resources did you find most helpful in helping you better understand the course material?

Anonymous: I made my own notes to make sense of the lecture and tutorial content. I didn't really have to refer to external resources.

What other courses do you think should be taken before or concurrently with this course?

Anonymous: I think 2122 would be good to be taken concurrently.
