CM2122: Organic Chemistry

Course Overview:

This is one of the 4 core Level 2 courses for Chemistry. It underwent numerous name changes, but the contents and assessment format have remained unchanged over the years. Depending on the semester, each part may be taught by the same or different lecturer.

1st part (Organic spectroscopy): IR, C-13 and H-1 NMR, MS
2nd part (Organic chemistry): EAS, nucleophilic addition, nucleophilic substitution at carbonyl C, nucleophilic substitution involving loss of carbonyl O, basic organometallic reactions, nucleophilic substitution at saturated C, electrophilic addition of alkenes
